Every piece begins as a line. Then the line becomes thread, the thread becomes texture, and the texture holds a memory you can touch.

كل عمل يبدأ خطًّا، ثم يصير الخط خيطًا، ويصير الخيط ملمسًا، ويحمل الملمس ذاكرة يمكنك أن تلمسها.

Why DRAWSCHWA?لماذا DRAWSCHWA؟

DRAW + SCHWA. The schwa (ə) is the quiet vowel you hear in almost every word, yet it is rarely written. DRAWSCHWA is that unwritten sound inside every line Asma draws. That is why the studio's motto is The sound of Art.DRAW + SCHWA. «الشوا» (ə) هو الصوت الخافت الذي نسمعه في معظم الكلمات ولا يُكتب. DRAWSCHWA هو ذلك الصوت غير المكتوب داخل كل خط ترسمه أسماء، ومن هنا جاء شعار الاستوديو: صوت الفن.

Asma Shalkame bridges structure, storytelling and craftsmanship. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Alexandria University and a Diploma in Interior Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts, and works across punch needle, tufting, drawing, painting, sculpture and interiors.تجمع أسماء شلقامي بين البنية والسرد والحرفة. تحمل بكالوريوس العمارة من جامعة الإسكندرية ودبلوم التصميم الداخلي من كلية الفنون الجميلة، وتعمل بين التطريز بالإبرة والنسيج المعقود والرسم واللوحات والنحت والتصميم الداخلي.
